Perception des risques côtiers et Gestion Intégrée des Zoness Côtières (GIZC)

Abstract : The aim of this paper is to shed a new light on coastal risks public policies whilst integrating stakeholders and public users' perception of coastal risks. Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) indeed requires integrated and concerted public policies regarding how stakeholders and citizens perceive coastal issues and design these policies in order to ensure their efficiency. To this purpose, we focus on coastal erosion and present a survey by questionnaire methodology to assess risk perception ; this methodology has been applied on three pilot sites in the Hérault district (department de l'Hérault, Région Languedoc-Roussillon, France). Main results show that perception is heterogeneous between categories interviewed and that information has to be enhanced to ease coastal public policies approval.
