La biodiversité des prairies au cœur des débats de l’AFPF : enjeux et perspectives

Abstract : At the Rio Conference, France undertook to maintain the diversity of species on its territory, but in the management of the forage systems biodiversity has not yet become a major concern. In its technical sessions devoted to this theme, the AFPF society met this challenge and showed the links existing between biodiversity and the forage systems : biodiversity has ecological and agronomical impacts, but new ideas and new tools have to be implemented ; it may have a positive effect on the economy of the farms ; technical solutions exist for compromises between the production functions and the preservation of biodiversity ; the latter has of course to take into account the social dimension. All this points to new directions of study, where AFPF will be able to play its part, contributing to the diffusion of information and of the results.
