Canker stain of the plane tree: last advances in genetic improvement for resistance

Hybridization were carried out between Platanus orientalis trees and clones of P. occidentalis tolerant to Ceratocystis fimbriata. An improved screening test was performed in Spring 1997 on a thousand of the 2-year-old hybrids obtained. High variability was noted and 80% of the plants died. The surviving trees will be further tested and classified
