Dynamique de la population de truite commune (Salmo trutta L.) d'un ruisseau breton (France). II.- Les géniteurs migrants

Abstract : Characteristics and spawning migration ofbrown trout adults going upstream in a tributary from the Scorff river are analysed during four years. The adults n umber changes during the period of study but their characteristics are the same. A proportion of these spawners (mean 22 %) cornes from the migrating juveniles population of the tributary. The migration takes time between the beginning of the November and February months. Upstream migration activity is connected mainly with the strong spates. In mean hydrological conditions there is a thermal threshold of the migration at 6° C. The females migrate later than the males in relation with a later receptivity to the migration physical parameters. Characteristics of migrating spawners are compared with its of tributary spawners. Sex-ratio is in favour of males in both populations. These are younger (1+and2+ years) than the females (2+ and 3+ years). The females 1 + are Jess well representated in migrating spawners as in tributary adults population which bas a smaller growth rate. The reproductive potential of migrating spawners can be more little than this of tributary spawners.
