Utilisation d’un modèle à base physique pour l’optimisation multicritères de l’irrigation des prairies par submersion

Abstract : In the Crau region (southern of France), the permanent grassland benefitting of AOC « foin de Crau » are irrigated by flooding irrigation, with water taken from the Durance river. This system of irrigation participates mainly in the recharge of the Crau aquifer (between 66% and 80% depending on the estimations) which is an important ressource for drinking water, agricultural water and water for industry. Facing a lower availability of water for agriculture because of climate change or allocation changes of the Durance water ressource, optimization scenarios for the irrigation system were conducted using a physically based model (Calhy model , [7]). They were evaluated according to different criteria (cost, water consumption) in order to decrease the irrigation time and the amount of drained water and to improve its homogeneity at the plot scale. First we modeled an automatic criteria to stop the irrigation depending on the plot’s length. This criteria was applied to all tested scenarios. An optimal scenario was identified : supplying water irrigation at two successive points of the plot (upstream and middle of the plot) could save close to 50% of water compared to the traditional irrigation with a low cost of management
