Performances production and commercialization of milk in the goat farms in mountainous areas of Tizi-Ouzou (Algeria)

Abstract : 16 goat farms located in Tizi-Ouzou mountainous area have been followed for one year. Our research question concerns the assessment of production performance and analysis of marketing farms products es- pecially a milk. The results show that farms are constituted of a small number of goats indicating low produc- tion performance: 1.1 kg / goat / day of 61-622 liters / goat / year. More than 90% of the milk produced is sold. The milk is collected by 7 collectors who transport it to only 2 units and a dairy cheese processing plant. The subsidy to milk production encourages farmers to increase their production, but this will is held back by the weak- ness of the collection and transformation circuit.
