Le lessivage dans les sols : modélisation expérimentale du transfert de particules

Abstract : The lessivage process, that creates Luvisols, is widely described in literature but has never been directly observed in situ. This work presents a laboratory experiment that aims at reproducing the first step of lessivage, say the eluviation, i.e. fine particles transfer. Seven undisturbed soil samples were submitted to 19 successive rainfall simulations. Two rainfall intensities were selected. The cumulative water drainage and the cumulative fine particles quantity were measured for each rainfall event. We showed that the quantity of fine particles was dependent on the cumulative water drainage; the eluvation process seemed to be more rapid for the highest rainfall intensity but depended also on the base limit condition, say the artificial succion applied at the bottom of the sample.
