Synthèse sur l’état des populations, des pressions et des modalités de gestion du Saumon Atlantique en France

Abstract : Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) has declined significantly over the last century, and the situation is concerning over his entire distribution area. This report aims to make an overview of the regulatory framework, the state of populations in France by basin and to broach the main pressures affecting wild populations. This overview shows heterogeneous situations between different basins, in terms of distributions, stocks and biological characteristics. The more established populations are found in Brittany, Normandy and Adour; the situation remains concerning in the others basins. A decrease in size and weight of returning adults is observed over all the distribution area, but the Rhine catchment. The proportion of Multi-sea-winters salmon is decreasing over several basins, in particular over Brittany and Normandy.
