Etude de la supériorité hybride. Le rôle de la phénologie, de la résistance à la cavitation et de l’architecture dans l’expression de l’hétérosis chez le mélèze

Abstract : Among forest trees, heterosis is a difficult parameter to study. At the INRA of Orléans, there is an adequate mating plan and experimental design allowing to finely study heterosis in Larch. Its purpose is to describe how heterosis is built up over time for several traits and to study the genetic and (eco-) physiological determinants of its expression. The goal of this study is to characterize the expression of heterosis in two contrasting soil water regimes and to understand, through exploratory methods, the role of architecture, cavitation resistance and phenology in the expression of heterosis in hybrid larch. We showed that heterosis is stronger in the non-irrigated treatment than in the irrigated one. In this trial, architecture plays a role in the expression of heterosis in larch, while phenology and cavitation resistance seem to have limited roles. However, it is necessary to experiment further with larger samples of genetic material, to explore further the methodologies used for a better accuracy in the results and to include new eco-physiological traits.
