Climate variability: seasonal forecast for optimal management of water resources

Abstract : The Thirteenth Entretiens Jacques Cartier held in Montréal (October 3-5, 2000) are one of annual international meetings aimed at cultural and scientific exchanges between the Province of Quebec and the Rhône-Alpes region of France, but also between the rest of Europe et North América. The proceedings of the session 1 " Climate variability : seasonal forecast for optimal management of water resources " has been published in a special issue of the research journal " Stochastic Environmental Research and Risk Assessment ", with a selection of 8 papers. The session includes five topics : 1/ understanding of large scale phenomena of climate variability, 2/ global climate model, 3/ from General Circulation Model scales to hydrological scales , 4/ examples of seasonal forecasts, 5/ evidence and modeling of climate change.
