Abstract

The objective of the present work is to show effectiveness of an agri-food territorial organization based on the creation of a net through information and communication technologies. To such aim, initially, the work outlines the positive economic effects of geographic proximity of actors localized in different districts and zones. The work reviews the theories on economic competitiveness from the special interdependences' point of view. Later on, it analyzes the contribution of ICTS in an optic of territorial organization, considering the specificity of agricultural activities, traditionally scattered on the territory, and of the other service and food transformation activities. An ICT network, connecting the different actors of all the spaces already organized on the territory and the multitude of actors scattered, can multiply the advantages of space proximity enlarging the set of possible transactions, thanks to "virtual" proximity that reunities a large number of actors through the territory. The network has to relate "not only the actors that belong to organized territorial under-spaces inherited from previous agricultural and industrial policies (poles, districts, production basins,...) but also these with the different actors of agriculture and food industry secluded". This form of organization is apt of creating a multitude of externalities and competitive advantages important for the whole territory.
