Practical use of mechanical tests to design synthetic lining systems against localized damage
Application d'essais mécaniques pour élaborer des systèmes d'étanchéité composite résistants à des endommagements localisés

A new and more accurate approach is proposed to design (geotextiles + geomembrane) lining systems in order to prevent localized mechanical damage, including puncture. This analytical design is based on the precise analysis of the elementary actions occurring on the geosynthetics and the corresponding damage. For each of them, the behaviour of the lining system is evaluated through either index tests or specific theoretical models, correlated with performance tests.
Une nouvelle méthode plus précise est proposée pour élaborer des dispositifs d'étanchéité par géomembranes (DEG) (géotextiles + géomembranes), résistants à l'endommagement localisé, incluant le poinçonnement. Cette méthode analytique est basée sur l'analyse précise des actions élémentaires appliquées aux géosynthétiques et des endommagements correspondants. Pour chacun d'eux, le comportement du DEG est évalué au travers soit de tests de références, soit de modèles théoriques spécifiques, corrélés aux tests de performance.
