The Allis shad(Alosa alosa) shall return: Biological basics and perspectives for a restoration programme of this diadromous fish in the River Rhine

In 1988 started the restoration programmeof the Atlantic salmon (Salmosalar) and since then more than 2500 returnershave been registered in the River and its tributaries. Thus, the restoration of other long distance migratory fish species, like allis shad, comes into focus.
