Diagnosing low flow forecasting possibilities in France: test of hydrological models on a set of 1000 catchments

Résumé

Hydrological droughts cause water shortages which may affect irrigation, domestic supply, industrial use or energy production. Its socio-economic consequences can be large, and therefore it should be anticipated as much as possible. Here we will concentrate on hydrological droughts in rivers, i.e. on low flow periods, and on the possibilities to forecast the occurrence of low-flows.(...)
