Using electrical resistivity 2D tomography in solid waste to evaluate hydraulic performances of leachate recirculation networks in landfills

Résumé

For the first time, an electrical resistivity line implemented along a recirculation pipe was used in a MSW landfill to focus on hydraulic performance of longitudinal leachate diffusion. Cartographies recorded during recirculation events show a more important impact at the downstream end of the pipe and a length of influenced zone correlated with leachate flow. A second resistivity line is installed across the same recirculation pipe to confirm the size and the shape of leachate bulb diffusion observed on a first pilot during previous surveys. These results are essential to confirm design of leachate recirculation networks for a good waste water content distribution.
