La certification Haute Valeur Environnementale issue du Grenelle Environnement : première voie vers une mesure du concept de performance sociétale en agriculture ?

Abstract : This paper proposes to discuss two points. First one aims to discuss the theoretical position of the new French official scheme certification High Environmental Value (HEV) in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility . Second part discusses how the indicators mobilized in this HVE certification scheme can be analysed as a first approach to measuring the social performance of a farm. We develop these thesis un three parts. We first analyze the new environmental certification HVE studied and its three levels of certification (Appendix A) and we can place the main steps in the current voluntary environmental certification and labeling in agriculture in France (Bougherara, 2003). Then, we compare the two criteria (autonomy and biodiversity) retained in the level 3 of the HVE certification (the B way) with the current methods of reporting the Corporate Social Performance of a farm (Zahm, 2011). Finally, from an analytical concepts of Corporate Social Responsibility and Corporate Social Performance measurement tools associated (Frederick, 1978 ; Acquier et Aggeri, 2008 ; Capron et Quairel-Lanoizelée, 2007, Gond et Igalens, 2010 ; Igalens et Gond, 2003 ; Wartick et Cochran, 1985 ; Wood, 1991), we discuss the ability of this HVE certification to pave the way of reporting the Societal Performance of a farm.
