The evolution of wood biomass projects in Aquitaine

Le déploiement des projets biomasse en Aquitaine : une approche par les collectifs socio-techniques

Résumé

Aquitaine is a region where forest and forestry industry are very important. During the past 30 years, the development of biomass projects based on forests resources took various forms, and remains rather confidential until recently when industrials started to invest in large scale equipments. Such developments are embedded in different territories and public authorities play a non negligible role by defining geographical priorities. In this communication, we try to investigate what lay behind such an evolution. Because of the rising tensions around forest resources, new wood products may actually gain additional values which may redesign (or not) existing organizations and eventually change common perceptions of forests.
