Grooming behaviour, fur quality and attachment position affect epizoochorous detachment time by large ungulates

Abstract : Epizoochorous plant dispersal by large ungulates is a privileged long-distance dispersal mechanism, exerting a strong filter on the regional flora. We used painted hooked fruits of Xanthium strumarium to assess detachment times in animal fur.
