La diversité de l'élevage de ruminants au sein des territoires : l'exemple de la région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

Abstract : Ruminant production areas are diversified in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (AuRA) region. At farm level, diversification of production units or products offers opportunities to cope with market fluctuation. We used the Inosys farm typology to characterize livestock diversification at both the regional and farm levels. In AuRA, we show that 39% of ruminant farms have several production units and that the majority of the so-called 'specialized' livestock farms also sell various products. The diversity of livestock farming is also unequally distributed in both upland and lowland areas.
