Evolution des systèmes de polyculture-élevage : une rétrospective statistique

Abstract : In spite of a specialization and a concentration of agricultural systems, mixed farming systems (MFS) are still present or even increase their part in the total area, according to territorial agricultural dynamics. We hypothesize that these farms are at the crossroads of transition dynamics of specialized farms. Using administrative statistical data, we analyze the individual trajectories of MFS in four French regions between 2007 and 2014. The static analysis suggests that MFS sustain in some regions (mainly Normandy and further more in Pays de la Loire), and decline in others (Midi-Pyrénées). In France, MFS keep their surface and increase their breeding capacity. The dynamic analysis shows that MFS are at the crossroad of the transitions of the farms, like a "step" of transition between specialized farms (breeding towards MFS, MFS towards crops), generally accompanied by structural changes (abandonment of milk, increase surfaces or livestock).
