How to use wisely anthelmintics: from data to modelling ?
Résumé
The emergence of anthelmintic resistance in gastrointestinal nematodes has modified strongly the management of these helminths in herbivores. The targeted selective treatments have been advocated by researchers, under various conditions. The identification of animals in need for treatment could be based on production traits or pathophysiological indicators (anaemia, diarrhea etc ..). Their predictive value is weak and thus random treatment could be an alternative for farmers rejecting the burden of TST. The TST proposals should be accepted by farmers.
