Caractérisation du parasite Haemonchus contortus pour sa résistance aux produits anthelminthiques de synthèse et sa sensibilité aux tannins condensés

Abstract : Today, small ruminant farming is a major economic challenge around the world. However, the emergence of parasite resistance to chemical anthelmintics worldwide threatens this production. The various integrated control axes of gastrointestinal parasitism in ruminants offer several alternatives to chemotherapy, including phytotherapy. The aim of this paper is to evaluate the anthelmintic modes and mechanisms of action of condensed tannins on anthelmintic resistant strains of Haemonchus contortus parasite. To do this, a preliminary study on the composition, structure and size of the condensed tannins of the eight plants was carried out. Then an in vitro study was carried out on strains of haemonchus contortus on a key process: the L3 stage in order to characterize them. Following this, a test on L3 larval exsheatment assay was carried out in order to test the effect of these eight purified condensed tannins. Analyses on the effect of CT doses administered, and a follow-up of the kinetics of the larval test were conducted. It has been observed that these CTs have varying efficiencies. This variability is related to the structural complexity of the condensed tannins and the presence of other active compounds in the plant extracts, but also to the nature of the resistance of the parasites, which could affect the tannin-protein interactions. Other studies will have to be carried out in order to specify these lines of research.
