Systèmes de production, environnement et politiques publiques: comprendre et accompagner le changement de pratiques en grande culture.

Abstract : Major crops are concerned by the development of policies thatencourage to changeagricultural practices to reduce the use of fertilisers and pesticides and to improve water quality. But, for now, the national indicators of use haven’t changedthat much; specialisation of cropping systems and simplification of rotation are still proceeding. However, on a micro-economic scale, we showed a better efficacy with fewer pesticides.Analysisof farmers’motivations and of the reasons slowing down the change of practices show a range of complex criteria, in which collective behaviour but also the relationwith advisors and the individual sensibility to the environment are playing an important role. The current agri-environmental measures are not very attractive and policies will have, in order to encourage a true change, to combine financial incentives and the augmentation of R&D actions involving all the participants of the sector.
