Changes in soluble carbohydrates and activities of sucrose-cleaving enzymes during tuberization of Pachyrhizus erosus (L.) Urban

Résumé

Developmental time course of soluble carbohydrates as well as sucrose metabolizing enzymes were determined in Yam bean (Pachyrhizus erosus) tap root under inductive environment. Until 5 weeks after sowing (WAS), tap root contained essentially sucrose (Suc). From 6 WAS (starting of tuber bulking), glucose (glc) and fructose (Fru) concentration increased greatly. The ratio of Fru to Glc was close to 1 during tuberization, indicating that Suc was very likely hydrolysed via invertase. Activities of sucrose synthase and neutral invertase were high whereas acid invertase activity was quite low. Neutral invertase activity increased by 3 between 5 and 7 WAS, but sucrose synthase and acid invertase activities remained unchanged. The levels of fru, glc and neutral invertase were positively correlated indicating its main role in the accumulation of reserve sugars in developing tuber.
El desarrollo del curso de hidratos de carbono solubles y enzimas metabόlicas de sucrosa fueron determinados en tubérculos de jίcama (Pachyrhizus erosus) bajo el ambiente inductivo. A las 5 semanas después de la siembra (SDS), el tubérculo tuvo un contenido esencial de sucrosa (Suc). De 6 SDS (el comienzo del desarrollo del tubérculos), las concentraciónes de glucosa (Glc) y fructosa (Fru) aumentaron significativemente. El radio de Fru a Glc fue cerca de 1 durante la tuberización, indicando que la Suc probablemente fue hidrolizada vίa inversiόn. Las actividades de sintesis de sucrosa e inversiόn neutral furon altas, mientras que la actividad de la invertasa ácida fue relativemente baja. La actividad de invertasa neutral aumentó en 3, entre 5 y 7 SDS, pero las actividades de sίntesis de sucrosa e invertasa ácida quedaron inalteradas. Los niveles de Fru, Glc e invertasa neutral fueron correlacionados positivamente indicando de esta manera el papel principal en la acumulación de azúcares de reservadas en tubérculo en desarrollo.
