Mécanismes de l'érosion diffuse des sols. Modélisation du transfert et de l'évolution granulométrique des fragments de terres érodés

Abstract : This study analyses the effect of soil structure on particle transfer by interrill water erosion. The work is based on laboratory rainfall simulations and aggregate size distribution measurements of soil fragments produced by the erosion processes. Each erosion process — breakdown, movement initiation by raindrops, splash transfer and overland-flow transport — is separately studied in order to improve our understanding of the physical mechanisms. Mass balance budgets are computed with the measured fluxes of eroded material. The size selectivity of initiation of soil fragment movement by raindrop and overland-flow transport is shown from the results of these budgets. Because of this selectivity, the size distribution of the soil fragments available for erosion controls, the fluxes of eroded material. A model for the prediction of sediments export by interrill erosion is designed from these data. This model is a first step towards the integration of soil structural dynamics in the physically-based modelling of water erosion
