How to help individual farmers in their move towards organic rice farming? A methodological case study in the Camargue (south of France)

Résumé

The conversion of conventional to organic farming (OF) systems in Camargue generate a lot of questions for conventional farmers. In this communication, we present and apply a method to assist farmers in their reflections about converting to OF. This method is based on interviews with farmers and on the use of a bioeconomic model to simulate OF systems. We present the results obtained for one farm and highlight the issues still at stake related to the generalization of such method.
