Dynamique post-partum de l’évolution des réserves corporelles de la vache allaitante charolaise selon sa parité et l’alimentation hivernale

Abstract : The Dynamic postpartum changes in body stores of lactating Charolais primiparous (PP) cows was studied in comparison with those better known of multiparous cows (MP). In an experiment crossing parity and feed level, two groups of 7 homogeneous PP (768 ± 45 kg) and two groups of 7 MP (821 ± 24 kg) were fed High / Low energy levels during a winter period of 117 days (January to May). Between batches, the average energy intake was 4.4 (PP) and 4.1 (PM) UFL / d. Put together at pasture, the groups were then followed for 63 days. Bordering the two experimental periods, body composition was assessed by measuring the adipose cell diameter three times. The nutritional challenge did not affect production. PPL and MPL batches respectively lost 52 kg and 25 kg compared with the H ones, a gap which persisted (39 kg) at the end of the experiment for PPL, but their fat free body mass was not reduced. When underfed, the PP have the same ability to adapt their maintenance energy expenditure as MP, but at grazing their ability to rebound and to recover body lipid reserves seems lower. These results should be modulated with the physical development of the primiparous cow.
