AUTELO -Evaluer et promouvoir des stratégies alimentaires plus autonomes et économes en élevage ovin laitier

Abstract : The AUTELO project focused on the feed self-sufficiency of Frenchdairy sheep farms at different scales:from individual feed intake to socio-technical systems, through herd performance and farm operations. At an animal or herd scale, redistribution of concentrates from low-productive animals to high-productive animals doesnotimprove neither technical nor economic results. However, adjusting downward for low-productive or young ewes must be done with precaution in order not to penalize them too much.At farm scale, four strategies of systems conversion have been identified, based on four agroecologylevers: a better use of native pasture, a higher feed self-sufficiency, a reduction of soil tillageand the development of soil conservation agriculture.
