Influence du rationnement et de la couverture des besoins en acides aminés sur les performances du porc en croissance selon les conditions climatiques

Abstract : Growth performance of pigs obtained with three feeding strategies were compared. Strategies ALA, ALB and RAA differed by the feeding level (AL: ad libitum, RA: restricted at 85% AL) and the 3-phase feeding sequence that met amino acid requirements or not (subscripts A and B, respectively). Two batches, each with four pens of six gilts or barrows per treatment, were used. Carcass leanness was 1.5 percentage point higher in RAA than in ALA (62.4 vs 60.9, P > 0.01) on average from both batches. The feed conversion ratio (FCR) was similar in both treatments in batch 1 (2.46 vs 2.40), but it increased in RAA in batch 2 (2.56 vs 2.39, P < 0.05). This difference may be related to the housing conditions during batches 1 and 2 (studied in winter and summer, respectively). Hence, daily feed intake (DFI) of ALA was 20% lower in batch 2 than in batch 1. Therefore, DFI of RAA in batch 2 was 28% lower than that of ALA in batch 1. With sequence B, FCR was higher than that of sequence A, and the difference was larger in gilts than in barrows (interaction: P < 0.01). The decrease in carcass leanness was also larger in gilts, especially under warm conditions (batch 2). This study demonstrated that both FCR and carcass leanness are improved by more adequate AA nutrition. Carcass leanness was also improved by restricting feed, which was associated with a longer fattening duration. Precise grading of the entire carcass or its main cuts would help to assess more accurately consequences on the commercial value that may attenuate the extra cost of production due to the longer fattening duration.
