NiCC’El A tool to caracterize the level of interaction between crops and animal productions at the farm level and identify way to increase them.
NiCC’El. Un outil pour caractériser le niveau d’interaction entre cultures et élevage d’une exploitation et identifier les voies d'amélioration.
Résumé
Agricultural statistics define mixed systems on the basis of farm structure, while the virtues attributed to these systems depend on the interactions between plant and animal productions. A method exists to qualify this level of interaction for ruminant farms. We propose a simplified version in the form of a diagnostic tool that can be used on farms. Its use reveals that farmers have difficulty assessing their level of interaction and that the tool helps them to better identify possible ways to improve interactions between the farm's productions. We also show how the tool serves as a basis for other sectors to devise a method for evaluating the level of coupling. Thus, broiler systems have modified the criteria for food autonomy to take into account the farm's interactions with the feed factory
