The influence of gut microbiota on cerebral oxytocin receptor (OTR) and m-opioid receptor (MOPr) ontogeny in the rat
Résumé
Oxytocin (OTR) and m-opioid (MOPr) receptors are developmentally important and mediate social functioning in a sex-dependent manner. Nonetheless, the underlining factors driving OTR and MOPr ontogeny remain unclear. Evidence highlights the influence of gut microbiota and its bidirectional interaction with the brain on neurodevelopment. Therefore, we aimed to determine the impact of gut microbiota on those brain systems at different developmental stages.
