Abstract

Abstract This chapter describes and illustrates the damage types (including the possible damaging agents) to reproductive structures of broadleaf woody plants: flower (blossom, catkin, flower-head) galling (insects, mites, fungi, bacteria and phytoplasma), bacterial blight ( Erwinia ), internal and external feeding (insects), sucking arthropod damage, abiotic damage (late frosts, drought, genetic incompatibility), fungal growth on catkins and fruits (Ascomycota), petal blight (fungi), damage on flowers by stone fruit scab (Pleosporales), external damage by sap feeders (insects), rust diseases (Pucciniales), moulds (Heliothales), powdery Mildew (Erysiphales), fruit galling (insects and mites), fruit fungal deformation (Taphrinomycetes, Ascomycota), bacterial diseases and viruses, nut rot (Ascomycota), hull rot (mummification) of stone fruits (Heliothales), black rot (mummification) of acorns (Heliothales), stone fruit scab (Pleosporales), fruit spot (Capnodiales, Ascomycota), internal fruit feeding by insect larva, mite-induced discoloration, larval emergence hole (insects), adult emergence hole (insects), seed galling (insects and mites), seed rot (Ascomycota), and seed insect damage.
