The untraceable delta. When flood control in the Camargue delta leads the researcher to identify cross-level and cross-sectoral misalignments
Résumé
The vulnerability of the Camargue delta to the risk of flooding is experienced differently according to the representations and the practices of the actors. For the public actors in charge of flood risk management and dykes construction and maintenance, flood risk management should mainly be governed through a sectoral, hydrologic approach defined at the scale of the delta. However, seen from the inhabitants, the vulnerability shall go beyond flood risk management to integrate a plurality of risks, intertwined at different micro and macro scales, escaping the existing sectoral approach defined at the delta scale.
