DiverCILand : Diversity of Crops In Landscape, a data management tool dedicated to rust disease prevention at landscape level

Résumé

DiverCIland (Diversity of Crops In Landscape) is an open source software and data management tool, designed to manage crop varietal deployment over countries, as well as landscape resistance levels or vulnerability maps. The database has been fed with Data on the deployment areas of registered varieties, information from VCU trials relative to the resistance of wheat varieties to rusts, and is also including tables to store postulation data or SNP genotyping related to R-genes, in link with the SNP data produced in RustWatch. Users have the opportunity to manage deployment or resistance data at different geographic scales, from counties and regions to countries. Wheat DiverCILand instance is accessible to https://wheat-diverciland.moulon.inrae.fr/, it needs a user account. Source code is available at https://forgemia.inra.fr/abisoft-gqe/diverciland. DiverCILand also aims to provide user friendly query interfaces to submit, extract or visualize data. The description of cultivated areas or resistance scores are tracked along time and across countries for a given variety. Management of all data can be done at a single information level (disease score,...) as well as through file upload of complete tables of data, using appropriate templates. A set of visualization interfaces allows to produce maps on varietal deployment, life-cycles of varieties, or charts on varietal resistance levels. These very first analyses highlighted the contrasted dynamics in varietal diversity and turnover in the different European countries, raising question both on the diversity of seed systems and business, as well as their impact on rust disease resistances.
