Mobilising agroecological principles to analyse the transition pathway of a mixed crop-livestock system
Résumé
Considering the challenges facing agriculture today, scientists and society are calling attention to the need to produce differently. Agroecology (AE) is one of the most promising ways to meet this challenge. However, while there is an abundant literature on the principles and theoretical frameworks of agroecology, there seems to be a gap between these principles and frameworks and their application on farms. According to Thomas et al. (2014), there is no standard model in AE: it is a matter of working on principles which then need to be applied to concrete situations depending on the context and local conditions. The aim of this article is to present the method we used to analyse and keep track the evolution of uptake of AE practices associated on a research farm.
