The interactions with the stakeholders is essential for SmartCow. It will help to define cattle research priorities, technology developments and the dissemination of project outputs throughout the cattle production chain. For that purpose SmartCow has set up a Stakeholder Platform composed of representatives of pre- and postfarm gate industry, farmers’ organizations, policy makers/regulators at national and EU level, including European stakeholders in animal production (FEFANA, FEFAC, FABRE-TP, EFFAB, UECBV, ATF, ICAR, DG Agri, andEuroGenomics). The mission of the Stakeholder Platform is to: 1) ensure relevance of project activities for the pre- and post-farm gate industries, advisory bodies, farmers’ organizations, notably by expressing their needs in terms of technology development and services through questionnaires or through the participation to workshops organized by the SmartCow project; ii) steer the calls for transnational access (link with WP2) by defining the research priorities with key industry stakeholders and academic partners; 3) support the project dissemination, notably by i) providing advices on the main topics of interest for trainings and visits of the project research infrastructures (task 4.3), and by ii) promoting access to the RIs, to harmonized methodologies and best practices among European stakeholders, industrial and technical researchers. Special attention will be given to the identification and mobilization of local stakeholders in each partner’s country. All partners will organize one national workshop targeting their local stakeholders to present project achievements and promote transnational facilities in their local language.
