Estimer la diversité floristique des prairies des exploitations herbagères avec un modèle de simulation couplé à un indicateur 'Note de biodiversité'

Abstract : A better understanding of the interactions among management, biodiversity and production in grassland-based farming systems is needed in order to identify which management practices contribute best to system' s sustainability. In this study, we focussed on the floristic diversity of permanent pastures, assessed by the number of species found at a field plot scale. The originality of this approach consisted in combining a simulator of the farming system which reproduces the daily interactions among management, herd and grasslands, with an indicator of the floristic diversity based on the environmental fertility and the utilization rates of the herbage and the heads before flowering. An example of application to a typical beef suckler farm shows that the predictions by our method are in more cases consistent with the corresponding field observations. The domain of validity is discussed. Our approach is a useful first step for the study of biodiversity in grassland-based systems. It will be carried on in the future and further supported by more thorough validations.
