Is glycerol a good cryoprotectant for sperm cells? New exploration of its toxicity using avian model
Abstract
In brief: Glycerol is a commonly used cryoprotectants for sperm cryopreservation in many species but shows cytotoxicity to decrease fertility. This study demonstrates that glycerol affects sperm migration and storage in the oviducts as well as negative modifications of sperm biology.
